Astrodesign introduces engineering-quality LCD display

Astrodesign, a Japanese manufacturer of professional video equipment, has introduced a 15in engineering-quality LCD display with integrated under monitor display (UMD) capability.

The model DM3016A integrates identification labels, tally lights, audio and video signal error detection, VITC insertion and a de-embedder with in-vision meters.

Traditionally, broadcasters and mobile production companies have had to buy and install separate UMD systems. Astrodesign said the integrated UMD functionality within the LCD display dramatically cut costs, weight and space, as well as reduced installation time in OB vans and control rooms.

In addition to having UMD functionality, the new LCD is able to display the characters above the images for over-monitor display. The input signal supports 23 kinds of HDTV and two kinds of SDTV image formats.

The monitor has a wide range of functions including brightness, contrast and chroma-level adjustments as well as marker display. The company said the new liquid crystal offered high-brightness, high-contrast and a wide field of vision.
