DK-Technologies Brings Its Spinner Display Technology To IBC

At IBC, DK-Technologies will be showing its 760 Spinner display - a new technology that is destined to revolutionise traditional waveform monitoring among European broadcast and post production professionals.

The Spinner display, which will be on show at DK-Technologies‘ stand 8.560, is highly intuitive and very easy to use. Video professionals who adopt this technology will literally be able to see, in colours, exactly what is happening to their video signal.

DK-Technologies anticipates that its Spinner display technology will eventually have the same impact on the video market that its JellyFish audio display technology had on the audio market when it was introduced at the end of the 1990s.

Karsten Hansen, CEO of DK-Technologies, says: “Re-thinking the display of digital video information so that it is presented in a simple and intuitive way has been the industry‘s unspoken demand for some time. With Spinner, we believe we have come up with the solution - a display that combines the benefits of traditional waveform monitors with the convenience of histograms by showing the red, green, blue, and luminance components in the video signal in such a clear way that even a non video professional will be able to read and understand it.”

Taking its name from the shape of the traditional hand spindles that have been used to produce thread and yarn for centuries, DK-Technologies‘ Spinner display is optimized to provide the video professional with usable information to align video cameras and to monitor video production. In the post production environment, the display constantly monitors the video signal and supports the operator in optimising programme material and keeping his video material within the technical limits of the video signal.

DK is now working on a final Video Meter product that will combine the monitoring of both video and audio in a single instrument and will be prepared for HD as well as SD-SDI video signals. The audio part will allow surround sound monitoring using the proprietary JellyFish display. This new concept is set to revolutionise video monitoring and make conventional waveform monitors obsolete.
