It’s early and I need coffee.

It’s Sunday, first real day of press conferences. I’m up early, it’s 7am and I’m off to the 8am Chyron press conference. As I arrive at the central hall, I’m expecting to pause for a brief breakfast at the cafeteria or at least at Starbucks. Wrong!

Neither of the food establishments are open. Okay, I understood yesterday and they weren’t open, but sessions are in full swing today. Press conferences are taking place. Exhibitors are franticly working and there’s no place to get some food or drink.

I end up walking back to my hotel a half-mile away just to get a cup of coffee.

Come on LVCC. Open up these places a bit so workers can have breakfast. The convention center is probably in cahoots with the Hilton so people will go there for food.

Woops, I forgot. That doesn’t work either.

As I discovered yesterday, the Hilton’s buffet restaurant is also on a reduced schedule. What used to be a 24hr operation doesn’t open until 8am. Are the press the only workers that have to get up early?

Okay, enough to my crabbing because I couldn’t get my morning coffee. On to Chyron.

Chyron (SL1420) is highlighting what I calls “distributed centralization” for broadcast environments. The company claims it’s developed the ultimate, flexible and content-rich workflow solution for all operations, said Kevin Prince, COO, called Chyron’s solution “distributed centralization.

The idea is to move content development and storage to the Internet “cloud”. With the AXIS development program, third-party developers have access to API’s, which allow them to develop sophisticated solutions for Chyron’s customers.

Current partners include Maximum Throughput, Atex Polopoly, Asseto, Forbidden Technologies and Txstation. These companies are using Chyron API’s to create content management integration, file creation and distributed management for direct integration with UGC along with voting and user interaction features.

Gannett Broadcast stations are using the software service across 23 stations.

Those solutions include and are being shown in the Chyron booth:

Other Chyron solutions on display include:

AXIS with OMS (Order Management Solution) is Chyron’s solution to customize, centralize and output digital content. Offering both self fulfillment of templated graphics and order placement for original content, AXIS with OMS provides real-time reporting at all stages of production.

iRB (Intelligent Rundown Builder) is a revolutionary, browser-based, tool for the creation, modification and deletion of running orders which allows you to have a newsroom-style workflow without the newsroom system (NRCS).

The Chyron Channel Box V3.0 provides an enhanced feature-set including self-adjusting 'Content Awareness' and VDS's PromoLite, making automated promo generation simple and efficient. In addition, it supports BXF and EAS (Emergency Alert System).

MicroClyps is a video server that defines a new price/performance paradigm for graphics technology. Virtually instantaneous clip recall and playout makes MicroClyps a good fit for those live applications.
