SOLID STATE LOGIC C100 AND C200 CONSOLES FEATURED IN TWO NEW HD REMOTE TRUCKS AT NAB

Mansion Mobile Television and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Remote Vehicles Available for View

LAS VEGAS, NV—Solid State Logic (SSL), a world-leading media technology innovator, is pleased to announce that two new HD remote broadcast trucks featuring SSL equipment will be on hand at NAB. The Mansion Mobile Television truck, with a C100 HD-S Digital Broadcast Console, will be at the Calutech Mobile Solutions Booth #OE434 and the other truck from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS), showcasing a C200 HD Digital Production Console, will be at the Gerling & Associates Booth #OE100. In both cases, the choice of SSL was supported by reputation, reliability and the capacity to cover multiple missions in a remote situation with the highest quality sound.

“We are excited that the visitors to this year’s NAB convention will have the opportunity to walk through these two advanced technology HD remote trucks,” says Phil Wagner, president of SSL, Inc. “Each vehicle represents audio capability that spans every situation from live sporting event broadcasts to high level concert sound capture. These consoles deliver the highest quality audio while providing an engineer-friendly interface, making the C100 and C200 extremely valuable tools for any broadcaster.”

The Mansion Mobile Truck is a 53-foot Expando HD truck with a 64 fader Solid State Logic C100 HD-S Digital Broadcast Console. The truck employs 128 mic pre-amps, an SSL MORSE routing system and delivers audio for Pro Tools capture through two SSL Delta Link MADI HD modules for direct DAW connectivity. Mansion Mobile Television will use the truck for major sporting events including productions for Major League Baseball, the National Football League, Big-12 college football, Major League Soccer and the National Basketball Association.

“Two things led us to the SSL C100 for our new HD truck,” explains Brad Palmer, vice president of operations for Mansion Mobile Television. “First, we have had a wonderful relationship with SSL in the past and we want to continue that relationship far into the future. Second, was the ‘features vs. cost’ ratio of the C-100 compared to its closest competitors in the mobile truck market. The C-100 is a powerhouse of a console with its 5.1 capabilities and its routing structure.”

Built on a conservative 42-foot frame with a 5-foot expanding side, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated 25 percent of the total space of the new production trailer for an audio suite. The centerpiece of which is a 96 input, SSL C200 HD Digital Production console with 32 dual-fader channel strips. Supporting hundreds of input channels, the system includes two Delta Link MADI HD interface modules driving the resident Pro Tools™ system. Additional capture is through a Tascam X-48 Hard Disk Workstation and Sony HDCAM-SR studio recorders. A 48-channel SSL stage box utilizes fiber connections from the concert hall stage to the production trailer.

“Church production requirements are very high and SSL equipment is commensurate with our standards,” says Sean McFarland, chief engineer for the LDS audio visual team. “A lot of care and consideration was given to the audio section of the truck, both in the equipment as well as the physical construction, as it supports large scale musical events including the 350 voice Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. A number of key design requirements were set including cinema support – the truck has full 4:4:4 video acquisition capability and can track large musical recordings. The truck also serves as an additional control room for the 21,000 seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City, supporting the entire Salt Lake campus. The SSL C200 gives us the quality and flexibility required for the multi-function roles of our truck.”
