EMCORE To Showcase Single- and Dual-Link DVI Optiva® Module At IBC 2008

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, September 8, 2008. EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ: EMKR), a leading provider of compound semiconductor-based components and subsystems for the video, broadband, fiber optic, satellite, and terrestrial solar power markets, will be demonstrating the OTP-1DVI2A1D1KDM dual-link DVI Optiva® video transport module at IBC 2008. DVI or analog VGA may be input to the transmitter, and DVI or analog VGA may be output at the receiver. In addition to supporting DVI resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 @ 60 Hz, the module also supports VGA resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 @ 60 Hz.

“Emcore’s OTP-1DVI2A1D1KDM product line, utilizing previously acquired Opticomm technology, is a complete solution for transmitting the full range of VESA and SMPTE-compliant video resolutions over long or short distances on a single wavelength. This single fiber, single wavelength solution is perfect for any professional audio/visual application such as remote digital theaters, video conferencing, concerts, electronic billboards, and sports arena screens”, said Henok Tafese, Director of Business Development of Emcore Broadband. DVI transport is appropriate for any digital communication between video processing and monitor.

In addition to DVI, VGA, and RGB-HV transmission, stereo audio is also supported on the same fiber. Optiva® was designed to maintain quality uncompressed signal. The OTP-1DVI2A1D1KDM lets one input DVI and output VGA, or vice-versa. Switching and multicasting the OTP-1DVI2A1D1KDM over the OptiLinx® Switching Platform is quick and simple, making this solution perfect for large-screen, high-resolution digital presentations allocating a single fiber to each display.

The OTP-1DVI2A1D1KDM is offered in a standard Optiva® insert card form factor. These cards fit easily into the Optiva® 1RU and 3RU 19” rack mount enclosures, or stand-alone desktop enclosures. The 1RU and 3RU rack mount enclosures accommodate up to 4 and 16 insert cards, respectively. The desktop enclosures hold 1, 2, or 4 cards, creating compact, mountable, stand-alone systems. The insert cars are hot-swappable and can be used in any enclosure, providing for future flexibility. Each housing unit operates with an appropriate power supply, and modules are compatible with the OptivaView SNMP Management Suite.
