Barco releases Grade 1 monitor

Barco (SL5008) has released its newest Grade 1 reference video monitor, the RHDM-2301. The monitor received a 2008 Broadcast Engineering IBC Pick Hit award with its introduction in Amsterdam and is on display at the Barco booth.

The RHDM-2301 is a Grade 1 LCD display designed to provide production and post-production personnel with a high level of color stability and accuracy for video reference tasks.

The 23in monitor uses a 10-bit panel and real-time color-stabilized LED backlights. The monitor provides continuous color stability, accurate representation of grayscales, deep darks and pastel tones. Thanks to the high-speed 120Hz panel and scanning LED backlight technology, the display is well-suited for monitoring fast-moving video.

The 1920 x 1200 display provides 800:1 contrast ratio with 96Hz-120Hz, 10-bit native processing. It comes equipped with a 3-D LUT with selectable white points of D50, D65 and D93, with DCI optional. It also allows selectable gamma of 2-2.6 and is fully EBU compliant. Primary colors are EBU, SMPTE and ITU BT.709 compliant. Users can upload their custom LUTs.

The RHDM-2301 relies on an internal thermal sensor circuit to provide backlight LED temperature stabilization. Also integral to its performance is an embedded spectrometer for overall color stabilization and embedded special sensors for LED uniformity and color stability, both of which contribute to long-term stability and accuracy.

Inputs are handled on four slots, which accommodate up to two SDI and two DVI/HDMI/analog inputs. Options include a 2 x 3G or 1 x dual-link input cards.

Display functions include safe area and aspect ratio markers along with a split-screen mode that provides zooming and panning for each displayed input.
