Avid Advances Newsroom Efficiency and Collaboration with iNEWS Instinct 2.5

Innovative Editing Solution for Journalists Delivers New Audio Features and Expanded Proxy Support for Creation of High-Impact News Packages

TEWKSBURY, MA, October 15, 2009 – Avid® today announced a new version of Avid iNEWS® Instinct ®, an intuitive audio/video/script desktop editing solution that enables journalists to accelerate news production by increasing speed, control and creativity of the creation of voice overs and voice over sound on tape (VOSOTs). iNEWS Instinct 2.5 also enables streamlined editing workflows and improved time to air of news stories with MPEG4 proxy support.

What’s New in iNEWS Instinct 2.5?

• Enhanced audio capabilities: equips users with sophisticated features for compelling audio effects. Now, any audio track from the source clip can be used in a sequence and audio levels of individual clips can be modified to achieve a desired sound. These audio features enable journalists to save time during the editing process while simultaneously enhancing their news packages.

• Expanded video format support: delivers support for a full range of formats and resolutions, including MPEG4 proxies—enabling journalists to build stories shot in higher resolutions in a lower resolution file, reducing bandwidth demands and providing users with increased flexibility and opportunity for collaboration.

Jim Rogers, senior director of production and resources for the English Network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Société Radio-Canada (CBC/Radio-Canada), has beta tested the iNEWS Instinct 2.5 solution, and commented that his organization is “looking forward to the improvements in Instinct that will allow journalists greater flexibility in news editing.”
