TAPELESS GF™ SERIES FLASH-MEMORY HD ENG SYSTEM, CMOS-EQUIPPED NATIVE MULTI-FORMAT HD CAMERA, MULTI-PURPOSE ONE-PIECE HD CAMERA, AND REFERENCE-GRADE HD LCD MONITORS HIGHLIGHT IKEGAMI’S HD WORLD EXHIBIT, IN NEW YORK CITY

JACOB K. JAVITS CONVENTION CENTER, NEW YORK CITY, EXHIBIT # 1108, OCT. 15-16, 2008—Ikegami, which introduced the industry’s first tapeless camcorder more than a decade ago, will display its revolutionary new Flash-based GF™ Series tapeless HD ENG system at the HD World Conference and Exhibition, in New York. The most advanced low-cost tapeless HD ENG solution available, the GF™ Series product line was developed in cooperation with Toshiba (a world leader in Flash memory) and includes the GFCAM™ HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder, the GFSTATION™ GFS-V10 multi-format studio recorder, and GFPAK™ high-capacity Flash media to record more than two hours of HD video. The GF™ Series tapeless HD ENG system—which features an open-codec HD/SD architecture, proxy video, and advanced metadata convenience—leverages the increasing integration of IT networking in the broadcast industry and delivers unprecedented file-based HD workflow efficiencies extending from digital video capture, to non-linear editing, to final content delivery.

The GF™ Series’ GFCAM™ HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder is an advanced but affordable three-CCD ENG camera featuring 1080i/720p HDTV format support, multiple digital recording modes, and advanced features such as Retro Loop recording to ensure that the videographer never misses a shot. The GF™ Series GFS-V10 multi-format studio recorder looks like a traditional broadcast deck, but offers far more. It is actually a Flash-based central video management and recording system with extensive connectivity that even includes a front-mounted USB port. Both the GFCAM™ HDS-V10 tapeless camcorder and the GFSTATION™ GFS-V10 multi-format studio recorder use GFPAK™ media, a removable Flash memory cartridge with up to 64GB capacity and a convenient USB port for access to file-based video even when GFPAK™ is not installed in either the HDS-V10 or the GFS-V10.

The advanced network connectivity of all GF™ Series system components creates the industry’s newest, highly efficient, highly productive, and affordable tapeless HD environment, which is engineered to meet the demands of broadcast and cable ENG as well as digital media professionals of all kinds. These range from independent, documentary, and corporate producers, to web video specialists, and even digital cinematographers.

HD Cameras

Ikegami CMOS-equipped HD cameras being exhibited at NAB 2008 include the flagship HDK-79EC Native Multi-format HD CMOS Camera System for field and studio use. Its three 2/3-inch 2.5 Mega-pixel 1920H x 1080V CMOS imaging sensors are switchable between native interlace and progressive readout modes and provide: 1080/60i, 1080/24p, and 720/60p performance. Also available are optional 50Hz formats, 1080/50i and 720/50p, and high-speed dual-link 1080/60p, and for Super Slow Motion, 720/120p, and 1080/120i. The docking style body of the HDK-79EC allows easy swap between fiber and triax camera cable by simply mounting the FA fiber adapter or TA triax adapter on the camera and throwing a switch at the CCU-890 side.

Ikegami’s HDL-45, meanwhile, is a three-CCD multi-purpose one-piece full-digital HD “box” camera that features advanced 14-bit analog-to-digital conversion and superb 1080i and 720p HD image capture. The HDL-45 is designed for use in such POV locations as traffic and weather-cam mounts, goalposts, track-side locations, and other out-of-reach vantage points. With matching picture quality and compatibility with the same control panels as its studio-camera counterparts, the HDL-45 integrates perfectly for flash camera, newsroom, control room, and other unmanned camera positions. The camera also features a built-in servo-filter that enables insertion of a neutral density or other filter by remote control; this is an especially important feature for use in inaccessible installations.

Further expanding the versatility of Ikegami’s new HDL-45 one-piece full-digital HD “box” camera, Ikegami’s new FE-C140 SE camera-side unit and FE-B100A base-station unit are designed to turn a tripod-mounted HDL-45 into a multi-purpose compact HDTV studio style camera. The FE-C140 SE camera-side unit allows for the mounting of an optional Ikegami nine-inch color LCD viewfinder and other optional third-party accessories, such as a microphone, teleprompter, tripod, and compact HD studio lens. The FE-B100A base-station unit transmits HD-SDI, genlock, control, return or prompter video, intercom, and audio mic channels using SMPTE hybrid fiber cable at up to 500m (or up to 2Km with an additional separate power supply).
