Buckinghamshire, UK In its latest HD truck, British outside broadcast operator Telegenic is once again relying on systems from RTS – in this case, an ADAM matrix complete with keypanels.
The fleet of outside broadcast vehicles maintained by the British OB operator Telegenic has been expanded. The new HD truck, like Telegenic's six existing vehicles, relies on equipment from RTS to ensure reliable, high-quality transmission. The nerve centre of communications is once again formed by an Advanced Digital Audio Matrix (or ADAM).
The 88-port matrix offers dual bus expansion, twenty-two keypanels and an easy-to-use two-wire communications system. In order to be able to satisfy the transmission requirements of customers like Sky Sports (when broadcasting Premier League games, for example, or the Ryder Cup), the new T14 HD truck is capable of accepting the signals of up to 25 high-definition cameras simultaneously, as well as boasting a Dolby Surround-capable control room, ten EVS units and eight videotape machines.
In the event that further capacity is required for a particularly large production, the intercom systems of the various Telegenic trucks can be combined using the RTS Dual-Bus Expansion System (DBX) to create one huge matrix communications system – an enormous advantage, as Dave Rowley, the man responsible for sound quality at Telegenic, is quick to recognize: "I like the enormous flexibility that RTS systems offer: you can assign any port to a four-wire, a telephone or a normal keypanel, which gives you an enormous number of options. What's more, the system is unbeatable in terms of reliability."
