NGC Group Purchases Vectorbox Solution For Brand New KBNC Facility

KBNC TV establishes facility in San Francisco; leverages Vector 3 technology for automated playout of programs and 24/7 news.

Los Angeles- CA – October 21 - Vector 3™, a pioneer in graphics and playout solutions, announced that the NGC Group, owner of several US-based Korean TV channels, has purchased the VectorBox integrated playout solution to broadcast live news, thematic programs, and pre-recorded shows from their newly established KBNC TV operation based in San Francisco, CA. The tapeless workflow broadcasts high-quality Korean programming 7 days a week, 24 hours a day over Digital TV. The program line-up includes a combination of popular shows produced by Korean media giant MBC with a variety of live news and thematic programs produced out of the San Francisco studio.

"After a careful evaluation period we went with VectorBox to support our new production and broadcast facility. They scored highest in price performance and reliability. They have also been developing technology for broadcasters since the mid 80's which is much longer than most manufacturers. This type of longevity combined with their exceptional technical capabilities gave us the confidence to roll out our new programs like the 7x24 news channel using VectorBox as our broadcast platform," Simon Ahn, General Manager, KNBC.

System Integrator and Vector 3 Business Partner IISN Systems Co., LTD, who specializes in Korean systems integrations, designed and built the San Francisco facility for the NGC Group. KBNC TV utilizes the VectorBox system to manage ingest and playout of pre-recorded programs transmitted from MBC in Korea. The VectorBox system is also used for live program playout with full control over graphics for shows produced in San Francisco. Satellite, RSS data or MXL feeds can be branded – manually or automated - during live playout. The VectorBox system is fully integrated with standard IT and broadcast hardware including Apple Final Cut editing workstations, For-A and Harris for multi-viewing and routing of media over standard IT storage.

"We are very pleased to work with our Business Partner IISN Systems on the KBNC TV installation. As with other IISN collaborations, we worked closely together to ensure the customer receives the workflow capabilities and performance they need," comments Roman Ceano, president and founder, Vector 3. "The integrated design of the VectorBox all-in-on server simplifies deployment while still providing broadcasters a wide range of capabilities for managing media ingest, graphics and playout. This is a significant advantage for broadcasters needing to rollout a new channel or facility quickly."
