In response to Canon's launch of its Digi Super 100xs, which for a time, was the world's first triple digit zoom lens, Fujinon has introduced the XA101x8.9BESM Zoom Lens, which, at 101x magnification, claims is the highest zoom ratio TV zoom lens on the market.
The XA101x8.9BESM lens targets sports events in widescreen 16:9 HD and 4:3 SD images and includes its OS-Tech optical stabilization system for image capture with a moisture removal system. Multiple moving zoom groups designed into the lens are meant to minimize coma and field curvature and the company's back focus technology enables remote control of macro and focus fade on wide shots. The lens is designed for 2/3-inch HD CCD cameras and has focal lengths of 8.9-900mmm.
