ViewCast enables Gem Shopping Network to simulcast broadcasts online

ViewCast, a provider of audio and video communication products, has announced that the Gem Shopping Network, based in Duluth, GA, is using the Niagara PowerStream for real-time encoding of its broadcasts. The PowerStream provides the Gem Shopping Network with high-bandwidth video and audio content for live program broadcasts over the Internet.

The PowerStream is a complete streaming media encoder designed to deliver plug-and-play operation. The 2RU rack-mount system features an appliance-like design to bring convenience and reliability to the management and distribution of video content. The encoder supports live webcasting applications and can also be used to perform interactive capture and encoding.

Administrators at the TV network can monitor, manage and control the encoder remotely via any IP-networked PC device using the included Niagara SCX encoder manager software. Video is captured and streamed via two built-in 1GHz TCP/IP network ports. Niagara PowerStream supports video capture into AVI, Flash, RealVideo and Windows Media formats, and gives the Gem Shopping Network the flexibility to create and stream multiple video sessions from a single system.
