Ericsson will license Kasenna’s PortalTV
Ericsson has agreed to license Kasenna’s PortalTV suite, including Kasenna LivingRoom and MediaBase XMP, for integration with its broadband access products.
Ericsson’s networking products and Kasenna’s Portal TV suite will provide a fully-integrated, one-stop IPTV solution for service providers. The combined solution will provide an integrated network and IPTV infrastructure carriers need to deliver advanced TV services, such as video-on-demand, network PVR, StartOver TV and customizable electronic programming guides.

HP, Alcatel, Microsoft establish global IPTV relationship
Alcatel and Microsoft have established a global relationship with HP focused on the delivery of server solutions for carrier-class triple play/IPTV deployments.
This relationship with the existing OEM agreement between HP and Alcatel solidifies HP as a key member of the joint Alcatel-Microsoft IPTV ecosystem. As a result, HP, Alcatel and Microsoft will work together to deliver these offerings.

NTT expands IPTV rollout with TANDBERG Television
On Demand TV — a joint venture of NTT West and Itochu — will expand its deployment of TANDBERG Television Mediaplex-20-based video headends to support MPEG-4 AVC technology for its nationwide IPTV rollout in Japan.
On Demand TV is planning to deploy TANDBERG Television MPEG-4 AVC transcoding in its Mediaplex-based headends in Tokyo and Osaka. Each headend will process transcoded MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC content and deliver it to NTT's Broadband (FTTH and ADSL) customers. On Demand TV also is adding two new Mediaplex headends to its existing installation of Mediaplexes to transcode the MPEG-2 content to MPEG-4 AVC and to provide additional headend redundancy.

PC Connections Services to resell EWAN IPTV products
PC Connection Services and EWAN have signed a contract by which PC Connection Services will be a reseller of EWAN's IPTV products, including the EWAND and its Enhanced Security Device SecureKey (ESD).
The EWAN ESD plugs into a USB port and lets TV viewers transform their desktop computer or laptop into a TV by accessing EWAN's IPTV programming, including hometown local stations. Designed and developed by EWAN, ESD is a miniaturized version of its DMC set-top box, scheduled to be marketed later this year.

FASTWEB selects Siemens, Juniper Networks to expand broadband network
Italian telecom provider FASTWEB has awarded Siemens and partner Juniper Networks a contract to expand its broadband network in response to the growing demand for triple play services from residential and business customers.
FASTWEB, the world’s second largest IPTV operator, will use its advanced broadband network to broadcast all FIFA World Championship 2006 soccer matches over IP and enhance Voice over IP (VoIP) services.
For this network expansion, Siemens will deploy its multi-service Surpass Carrier Ethernet technology and Juniper Networks E320 Broadband Services Routers.

Juniper sets sites on IPTV, multiplay services with new initiative
Juniper Networks has created the Open IPTV and Multiplay Initiative, a program to enable providers to deploy IPTV and multiplay service offerings more rapidly and cost-effectively with open, flexible and best-of-breed networks.
The first phase of the initiative is the new Open IP Service Creation Program with an open application programming interface (API) to enable applications to interact intelligently with the IP network. The company also announced its E-series Broadband Services Router as the first to comply with TR-101 and Layer 2 Control Protocol (L2CP).

Shenick licenses Telchemy IPTV, VoIP software
IP communications test systems provider Shenick Network Systems has licensed Telchemy's VQmon/SA-VM IPTV and VQmon/SA VoIP performance analysis software for use in its diversifEye Triple Play communications test system.
