Tascam’s new HD-P2 portable recorder is ready for live, on-location stereo applications.
HD-P2 features a SMPTE timecode input for synchronization to external devices while in record or playback, and records up to 192kHz at 24-bit resolution for audiophile level sound quality.
Users can output to Compact Flash media while maintaining a lock to the built-in SMPTE timecode input. It also features unbalanced RCA ins and outs as well as S/PDIF digital I/O. Other features include XLR mic inputs with phantom power and analog peak limiter, and a full FireWire interface.
Monitoring is available through a headphone with ergonomic level control. It features a built in speaker and a built-in microphone. Once recorded, .WAV format audio files are instantly available through the built-in FireWire port and can be transferred for use in a NLE or DAW.
The HD-P2 runs for approximately 5.5 hours on AA alkaline batteries, and weighs less than 2lbs with batteries installed. The product is expected to ship by the end of the year.
