Sysmedia launches teletext-to-DVB subtitle transcoder
By TVTechnology published
SysMedia has launched a new teletext-to-DVB subtitle transcoder, the SDR7. The system extracts teletext subtitles from an analog video signal and converts them to the equivalent DVB subtitles. This allows broadcasters to include subtitles for the hearing impaired on both digital versions of existing analog services and new DVB services without disturbing existing infrastructure or subtitle creation workflows.
The SDR7 is designed to complement existing teletext subtitling systems. It can be easily added to any teletext subtitle transmission system without the need to change established subtitle authoring or transmission processes. The unit can also act as a DVB subtitling inserter, using established teletext subtitling protocols.
