Free hearing screenings to be offered at AES convention

At the 123rd AES Convention, the House Ear Institute (HEI) will provide hearing conservation education and screenings to thousands of Audio Engineering Society (AES) members through its Sound Partners hearing conservation education program. The HEI program is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of safe sound practices for better hearing health among audio and entertainment professionals and the listening public. The AES is a longstanding industry partner in this endeavor, providing facilities and space at its convention since 1997. The screenings will be available in Booth 576 during show hours at the AES Convention, Oct. 5-8, at the Javits Convention Center in New York.

Licensed audiologists will be available to counsel participants on their screening results, which are kept confidential. The HEI's outreach staff will offer additional hearing health education, literature and free hearing protection.

Shure is again serving as the exclusive sponsor of the HEI hearing screenings as part of its Listen Safe program, dedicated to educating musicians, audio professionals and consumers on safe listening.

Complimentary materials offer information on noise-induced hearing loss, hearing protection devices, conservation practices and general hearing health education, including other forms of hearing loss, tinnitus, ear diseases and related disorders.
