Launched in 1947 as International Radio and Electronics, Crown International is celebrating 60 years in the professional audio industry. Founder Clarence Moore, a minister from Indiana, started the firm after spending time working in Ecuador for nonprofit Christian broadcast group HCJB. According to company history, Moore started the company to supply Christian broadcasters with electronic products, converting a chicken coop into its first production facility.
Early products included an open-reel tape recorder with a built-in 15W amplifier. Other notable products throughout the years include the DC300 high-powered, solid-state amplifier; PSA-2 Power Amplifier; a line of Pressure Zone (PZM) boundary microphones; TEF audio analyzer; Macro-Tech and Micro-Tech amplifier lines; Com-Tech amplifier series; and the K2 amplifier.
Led by president Mark Graham, today’s Crown products expand on this legacy of solid engineering and advanced technology with network-ready products that integrate with other Harman Pro Group brands. The company’s corporate headquarters remain in Elkhart, ID.
