The MTXS from Headroom Broadcast combines MPEG coding and multiplexing for audio broadcast over DVB networks. Each unit consists of a multiplexer and a variable number of encoders or converters built into a 19-inch subrack. These encoders/converters are separate interface modules that can either encode analog or digital audio or convert MPEG-coded audio or a multichannel signal such as Dolby Digital into an ASI-compliant stream. Up to 10 stereo programs can be processed in one subrack, which also contains a controller and redundant power supply.
