CBC standardizes workflow with Abit automation

The Cologne Broadcasting Center (CBC) has selected Abit to provide three new automation systems to standardize workflow across its channels’ transmission systems at a new facility in Cologne, Germany, next year.

Abit’s automation will be used for the control of several major channels transmitting scheduled content in Germany, Austria and Switzerland while automatically taking into account the regulatory framework for each country.

The system will run on the Linux/Intel operating platform and will standardize workflow across a range of file servers, the IBM storage system and transmission servers, and integrate with the clients’ corporate IT environment in accessing metadata and file storage information. The existing Abit-controlled pay TV and ingest systems will be included in the workflow architecture, while a further bespoke backup playout system will be developed by Abit.
