Asianet upgrades news production with NEXIO NewsNet

Private Indian broadcaster Asianet has selected the Harris NEXIO NewsNet newsroom server system for a major upgrade of its news production facility.

The installation consists of three NEXIO servers with centralized shared storage. NEXIO NewsFlash FX nonlinear editors will provide Asianet personnel with instant access to all source material — even during ingest. The system consists of a flexible edit interface and multiformat (DV25, DV50, MPEG, IMX) editing. The broadcaster’s staff will share content centrally stored on the NEXIO servers.

The system also features the NEXIO PlayList application for sequencing and playing to air; Rundown Manager as the MOS gateway, linking Asianet's newsroom computer system with the NEXIO server; and Ingest Control Manager, which supports both scheduled recording of line feeds as well as instant, ad hoc recordings to capture breaking news events.

The newsroom contains other digital infrastructure solutions from Harris, including the Panacea clean switch router; the Integrator router; the SuiteView multi-source display processor; the X75 SD multiple-path converter/synchronizer; NEO and 6800+ modular interface products; the MTG-3901 master timing generator system, IconLogo modular branding solution; and Videotek VTM-200 multiformat, on-screen monitors. The installation will be completed by systems integrator Shaf Broadcast Private Unlimited in India.
