Yes Network selects Leitch production systems for tapeless playback

Leitch’s MediaFile clip storage system uses dpsReality cards and the Microsoft Windows 2000 OS to instantly access clips, stills and sequences over a variety of network topologies.

Looking for a cost-effective playback solution to replace its aging VTRs, the Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network has chosen Leitch's MediaFile clip and still storage system and Whiplash2 slow-motion/instant replay unit for use in its digital production facility in New York City.

By combining Leitch’s dpsReality dual-stream digital disk recorder with custom application software, Whiplash2 provides instantly accessible, high-quality replays and ultra-smooth slow motion playback. MediaFile permits instant access to clips, stills and sequences, allowing YES to improve the overall look of its telecasts and maintain an edge in an increasingly competitive sports programming market.

The YES Network is a 24-hour premier sports and entertainment cable television network, broadcasting the New York Yankees, New Jersey Nets, and other professional and collegiate sports teams. It also broadcasts classic sports footage to viewers across New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In addition to 130 Yankees games and 75 Nets games, the YES schedule also includes original biographies, interviews and magazine programs.
