XDT introduces catapult

Software-based digital film solution developer XDT has introduced catapult, a point-to-point system for frame transfers capable of delivering the same local throughput performance of its storage arrays out to connected systems using standard networking infrastructure.

The new catapult is an integrated hardware and software solution, consisting of a 3RU enterprise-grade server that delivers a maximum data rate of more than 1000MB/s read or write via local RAID 5-protected array with up to 11TB capacity. This hardware platform is then exposed onto the LAN or switched fabric with XDT’s catapult software component.

XDT’s crossplatform slingshot client provides an intuitive interface for transferring frame data to and from catapult. Point-to-point data rates of 600MB/s are achievable over six GigE interfaces.

XDT will showcase catapult at IBC2008 in Amsterdam, Sept. 12-16.
