Wohler Now Part of Ross openGear

At IBC last week, Ross Video announced that Wohler Technologies is now a member of its openGear partnership.

Created by Ross and launched at NAB, openGear is based on an open-architecture card frame and allows cards from a variety of manufacturers to be used interchangeably in trays from any company supporting openGear.

"We are very excited to be a part of the openGear evolution," said Carl J. Dempsey, president and CEO of Wohler Technologies. "The entire concept of openGear makes sense and matches our corporate objective to focus on providing broadcast solutions without developing yet another frame standard. This ultimately will give customers the flexibility to choose the best terminal equipment solution for their needs."

"We are pleased to welcome Wohler Technologies as our newest openGear partner," said Eric Goodmurphy, marketing product manager of the RossGear product line. "Wohler brings more freedom of choice and once again reinforces our strategy to offer the industry a common terminal equipment platform with maximum flexibility."

The openGear card frame is 2 RU high and can accept 10 cards. The technology also provides a control system for the circuit cards used.
