Volicon's new Observer RPM 100 provides cost-effective remote monitoring for cable MSOs

Volicon has introduced a new entry-level version of its Observer RPM (Remote Program Monitor) system for automated, multichannel signal quality analysis. The new RPM 100 is targeted to cable MSOs and station groups that need a cost-effective solution for monitoring and analyzing signal quality and consumer quality of experience (QoE) at geographically dispersed secondary headends and remote unmanned cable hubs.

The Observer RPM is Volicon's solution for MSOs, independent cable operators, IPTV and satellite providers looking to automatically evaluate the quality of their NOCs/headends and remote hub broadcasts from a central location. The RPM 100 is a single-channel system that offers a subset of the core RPM functionality for monitoring the signal quality at remote locations. The RPM 100 also includes Volicon's new QoE module for automatic detection of macroblocking, a process that traditionally has required human intervention to spot the on-screen anomalies.
