Vizrt graphics dominate Taiwan’s elections coverage

The Viz|Trio CG system, used by ETTV, enables the simultaneous creation of 3-D and HD graphics and animations by multiple clients.

Six Taiwanese broadcasters selected Vizrt's Viz|Trio real-time character generator and graphics system, and three-camera Viz|Virtual Studio virtual graphics system to display results from this week's elections.

The elections, which took place in Taiwan Dec. 3, was challenging because there were thousands of candidates from the country’s 23 countries, making analyzing and reporting the results extremely complicated.

One of the broadcasters, ETTV, first used Vizrt graphics solutions for the result analysis and design of its 2004 Presidential election coverage. It also employs Viz|Virtual Studio for its news programs, variety shows, and special events. For this week’s elections, ETTV designed all of its virtual sets using Viz|Virtual Studio.

Viz|Trio allows for the simultaneous creation of 3-D and HD graphics and animations by multiple clients in a broadcast environment. The Viz|Virtual Studio module has a drag and drop user interface and integrates with a wide range of camera tracking solutions and external studio peripherals. All Vizrt’s graphics products are powered by a single core renderer, the Viz|Engine.
