Turner Equips Production Truck with PESA Cheetah

Turner Studios has selected the PESA Cheetah Flexi-Frame routing switcher for its newest HD/SD hybrid mobile production truck, HD2.

The Cheetah will be used to route SD/HD signals during live events such as baseball games, Masters Tournament and NBA regular- and post-season games.

The Flexi-Frame has 128 HD inputs, 112 HD outputs, 128 SD inputs, 256 HD outputs, 48 channels of internal HD-to-SD conversion and 48 channels of internal SD-NTSC conversion. The 27RU switcher is offered in three non-rectangular matrix sizes--256x448, 320x384 and 512x256.

Analog outputs are managed through a piggyback digital-to-analog conversion card mounted to the SD output module, where 10-bit SDI signals are converted to analog video for NTSC/PAL or general-purpose monitoring applications.

The PESA 3500Pro controls the Cheetah Flexi-Frame systems and is designed to accommodate the fast-paced world of mobile trucks, according to the Melville, N.Y.-based company.
