This year's IBC in Amsterdam proved to be a successful one for Thomson. New orders totaling approximately $16.6 million were placed around the world for its Grass Valley digital broadcast and post-production equipment, including cameras, servers, routing switchers and film imaging technology. Several orders also were placed for Nextream compression gear.

U.S. orders include a $2.9 million deal with ESPN for Grass Valley modular equipment, and a $3.1 million deal with Trio Video, which is building a new standard- and high-definition mobile truck that incorporates Grass Valley cameras, routers and switchers. Similar orders were placed in Australia and Europe.
