Harmonic announced March 12 that it had completed the acquisition of Scopus Video Networks for about $50 million. The acquisition is seen as strengthening Harmonic's technology and market position, particularly in the broadcast contribution and distribution markets.

FamilyNet Television launches Internet TV distribution with TVU BD1000
FamilyNet Television and TVU Networks this month launched FamilyNet’s live, 24/7 broadband channel powered by TVU.

FamilyNet has taken delivery of TVU’s BD1000 Broadcast Appliance, a 1RU standalone plug-and-play broadcast server based on TVU’s real-time packet replication (RPR) technology, to power its first broadband TV channel.

Hargray Communications selects Entone customer premise equipment
Hargray Communications Group, serving portions of the Southeast United States with IPTV services, has selected customer premise equipment (CPE) with DVR capabilities from Entone.

Entone’s connected home solutions focus on enabling IPTV and broadband TV services throughout homes that have a variety of network and TV configurations without requiring new home wiring.

Accedo Broadband launches ‘The Terminator’ game for IPTV
IPTV game provider Accedo Broadband has entered into a three-year exclusive licensing deal for the launch of several games based on “The Terminator.”
The new games will be added into Accedo’s Funspot portfolio of casual games and will be available for Accedo’s customers from Q2 2009.

Details emerge on Greek IPTV VOD offering
On Demand Group (ODG), a subsidiary of SeaChange International, has announced details of the VOD and subscription VOD content line-up for the IPTV launch announced by The Hellenic Telecommunication Organisation (OTE) in February.

OTE’s FilmExpress transaction VOD (TVOD) service includes movies from major Hollywood studios, including Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros., as well as a selection of library titles from the same studio.
