RTEC Communications turns to GoBackTV's GigaQAM IP

RTEC Communications in Archbold, OH, a division of Ridgeville Telephone Company, has deployed IPTV over cable using GoBackTV’s GigaQAM IP cable IPTV solution.

The GigaQAM IP is allowing RTEC to expand its HFC cable video services by leveraging its existing fiber-based IPTV services, said company general manager Ken Miller.

AmberFin separates from Snell & Wilcox

AmberFin last week announced it has separated from parent company Snell & Wilcox, following the merger of Snell & Wilcox with Pro-Bel.

AmberFin remains under the ownership of Advent Venture Partners as an independent entity. The company’s focus and core business model remains to develop and advance its iCR software.

YouSee adds Media Excel Hera 4000 encoders

Danish cable TV operator YouSee has selected Media Excel Hera 4000 Mobile TV solution for its 3G Mobile TV service.

The Hera 4000 Mobile TV solution delivers up to eight channels of SDI encoding or 16 MPEG-2 channels of transcoding in real time in H.264, H.263 and MPEG-4 within a single 1RU appliance.

Warreyn assumes executive VP slot at Viaccess

Viaccess has named Kris Warreyn executive VP of sales with responsibilities to ensure revenue growth and garner new deals in broadcast, broadband and mobile TV.

Warreyn began his career at Dassault Electronics before moving on to assume a number of sales management positions at E2S, a Belgian software company.

Dialog Telecom selects Scopus for IPTV distribution network

Polish telecommunication operator Dialog Telecom has launched a new IPTV service using a video distribution network based on Scopus Video Networks’ video networking solutions.

At the core of the new IPTV network is the Scopus Eldorado NMS (Network Management System), which offers redundancy and a centralized network view. Scopus' IRD-2900 series of integrated receiver/decoders receive satellite video feeds of Polish and international content. Scopus UE-9000 encoders then provide local content encoding.

Dominican Republictelecom launchesnationwide IPTV service

Dominican Republic telecom operator Compania Dominicana de Telefonos (Codetel) has launched a nationwide IPTV offering, providing TV programming, video on demand and other multimedia content services. Enhanced features include picture in picture, karaoke entertainment and digital video recording.

The new IPTV service, supported by Alcatel-Lucent’s end-to-end IPTV solution, includes the Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV and multimedia software platform.
