ESPN launched ESPN2 HD, an HDTV simulcast of its ESPN2 sports channel, live from the Consumer Electronics Show last Thursday evening. ESPN2 HD joined ESPN HD, and now both sports channels are available in HD as well as SD, to viewers who have access to the right programming distributors. Currently, ESPN2 HD distribution agreements have been signed with Adelphia Communications and DirecTV, according to ESPN. The two channels will offer more than 6,000 hours of HDTV programming in 2005, the most HDTV offered by any cable channel in the world, according to the sports network.
