TBS to launch HD in September

TBS will launch an HD simulcast of its East Coast feed Sept. 1, offering viewers a new source of HD entertainment, which includes such network original series as “My Boys” and “The Bill Engvall Show,” which are being shot in HD, as well as HD presentations of MLB games.

The network will be broadcast in 1080i and use Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound across all TBS in HD programming. In addition, the network will present all of its programming, including promotional content and commercials, in 16:9 widescreen format.

The HDTV simulcast will also include first-run series like “Tyler Perry's House of Payne,” sitcoms like “Seinfeld” and “Friends” and specials like “World's Funniest Commercials.”

The TBS in HD presentation of MLB games will include Division Series Playoffs and the National League Championship Series.
