Streaming media Super Session to immerse broadcasters in new opportunities

As television broadcasting evolves from analog to DTV service, other opportunities for distribution of digital video content have surfaced.

Chief among them is streaming media over the Internet. This year, broadcasters attending the National Association of Broadcasters convention will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the digital stream at “The Business of Streaming Media” Super Session from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m April 21.

Hosted by Peggy Miles, president of Intervox Communications in Washington, D.C., this super session will explore the unique opportunities broadcasters and other industries have for providing entertainment, educational and business content over a number of platforms.

The session will feature a panel made up of Dave Gardy, chairman and CEO, TVWorldwide.com; streaming media evangelist Todd Herman, MSN/MSNBC, Redmond, Wash.; George Kliavkoff, senior vice president, business development, Major League Baseball Advanced Media, New York; and Dan Rayburn, executive vice president, Streaming Media Inc., New York.

From personal computers to cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs), streaming media offers users a means to refine the way they get information.

The session will focus on how various sized organizations are using streaming media to improve efficiencies, build new relationships with customers and consumers, inform, teach and entertain.

The session will also feature Bernard Gershon, senior vice president/general manager, Digital Media Group, ABCNEWS.com, New York, who will deliver the keynote.
