Pinnacle Systems has provided Starz Encore Group LLC with DekoCast and MediaStream servers for use in delivering Starz' cable and satellite movie channels.
Starz is using 18 DekoCast, 12 MediaStream 700 and two MediaStream 1600 systems to provide the production and playout components for the 36 program streams originating from Starz' facility in Englewood, Colo.
DekoCast is a master control system integrating a real-time character generator, multiple-channel video and audio clip player, 24-track audio mixer and router, multichannel DVE and an advanced compositing engine within a unified hardware platform. The system can be controlled by one operator or automated. It is suited for managing digital channel proliferation and is a component in content localization and centralcasting designs. The MediaStream product family has flexible, scalable independent and shared storage solutions and is configurable to deliver SD, HD, MPEG-2 ASI/DVB and broadband IP video simultaneously.
