Staff Chair Shuffle at FCC
By TVTechnology published
Acting FCC Chairman Michael Copps has approved several personnel changes at the commission.
Media Bureau Chief Monica Shah Desai is leaving the bureau to become special advisor to the FCC’s general counsel. Robert Ratcliffe comes over from the Enforcement Bureau to serve as acting chief of the Media Bureau.
Thirty-year veteran Kent Nilsson is retiring as inspector general. In his place, the acting IG will be David Hunt, currently assistant IG for investigations. Current Deputy General Counsel Mary Beth Richards is reassigned as acting managing director of the commission.
Finally, former staffer Blair Levin, who was chief of staff under Reed Hundt, returns to help coordinate development of a national broadband plan policy, probably the second-most pressing priority next to the DTV transition.
