Solid State Logic adds pass-through edit control with Gravity LiveEdit

Solid State Logic (SSL) now offers the new Gravity LiveEdit for SSL’s Gravity media asset management/production systems. LiveEdit takes full advantage of Gravity’s powerful media-to-air capabilities, enhancing production options for the broadcaster.

Gravity LiveEdit enables a broadcaster to manipulate pass-through channels on the fly, removing or adding informative and preprepared content within seconds of the transmission point. Gravity LiveEdit enables, where permitted, the replacement of advertising material with local content, or removal of culturally unacceptable material.

Typical edit screens provide a record time and a playout time, which requires the editor to monitor and maintain a zero time, where the amount of material taken out must be replaced. The dynamic playout capabilities of Gravity LiveEdit mean that editors don’t need to keep such a close eye on zero time, because material can be added or removed in as little as a few seconds from broadcast, if required. The user can establish a fixed delay for the transmission either set by automation or by maintaining a completely dynamic timeline where the editor manually controls the transmission delay to stay ahead of the transmission point. With Gravity LiveEdit, users can maintain sufficient edit time while remaining as close to live as possible. The application is ideal for sports programming where advertising regulations can be maintained to their best effect.

Gravity LiveEdit is one of a number of applications available for SSL’s Gravity platform, a complete content acquisition, management and distribution solution. Gravity provides all the encoding and transcoding tools required for fast package production, coupled with the capability to generate multiple, simultaneous output formats in different resolutions to cover any broadcasting situation.
