SNIA forms Solid-State Work Group

As solid-state drives are beginning to be used as a replacement for hard drives in playout and VOD servers, interest is growing in this technology. At the Storage Visions 2009 Conference in Las Vegas, NV, the Storage Networking Industry Association announced the creation of the Solid State Storage Technical Work Group to create a reference architecture and to facilitate industrywide adoption of common requirements, methods and specifications. Additionally, the SNIA Solid State Storage Initiative released its first technical paper, "Solid State Storage 101: An Introduction to Solid State Storage."
