SES Americom selects Irdeto Access M-Crypt

Irdeto Access, a conditional access provider for pay television, announced that SES Americom, a U.S satellite services provider, has selected its content protection technology to secure the distribution of programming and enterprise services aboard the AMC-4 satellite.

SES Americom has integrated the Irdeto M-Crypt conditional access (CA) system into its Woodbine, Md.-based customer transmission center. This center is one of several SES Americom uplink and communications facilities used by broadcasters and cable operators, as well as providers and users of VSAT, business television, and broadband Internet services.

The Irdeto M-Crypt CA system is designed for small- to medium-sized pay-media operators requiring digital encryption of content for cable, satellite, or terrestrial transmission. A user-friendly CA system that allows operators to grow according to their business needs, Irdeto M-Crypt can be upgraded smoothly to Irdeto Access’ large-scale CA system without the need to change smart cards or set-top boxes (STBs) in the field.

Irdeto M-Crypt offers the same level of security as Irdeto Access’ large-scale CA solution but operates on a Windows 2000 platform for simplified, PC-based control and maintenance.
