September Brought Record-Setting DTV Sales CEA Says
DTV products sold at a record pace in September, according to the Consumer Electronics Association.
September factory-to-dealer sales of DTV products, defined as integrated sets and displays, totaled 260,979 units, a 77 percent increase over September 2001. The total value of DTV product sales was nearly $440 million, representing a 64 percent increase from the same month in 2001. Year-to-date DTV unit sales stand at over 1.5 million on dollar sales of more than $2.7 billion. More than 106,000 integrated sets have been sold since the beginning of the year.
DTV products are defined by the CEA as integrated sets and monitors displaying active vertical scanning lines of at least 480p and receiving and decoding ATSC terrestrial digital transmissions.
