SeaChange Expands Broadcast Television Platforms at Network 18 in India

CNN IBN, part of Network 18 in India, has expanded its existing SeaChange digital video platform with the addition of a nearline storage archive and new play-to-air capabilities. The international news outlet delivers programming to more than 28-million households in India.

The SeaChange ML1G nearline storage server has been integrated with CNN IBN's Avid Interplay newsroom system to provide archive storage for news production within the operation. A Front Porch Diva content management system allows Avid files to be stored on the SeaChange server and also drives content to SeaChange's Broadcast MediaLibrary/MediaCluster (BML/MCL) play-to-air platform.

"The reliable performance of our SeaChange platform for 24x7x365 playout over the last six years led us to select the MediaLibrary ML1G for our nearline archive needs," said Piyush Gupta, Head of Operations, Network 18. "The decision was easy as SeaChange's MediaCluster architecture is robust and at the same time provides seamless scalability in storage with enhanced bandwidth for our complex operations."

"Our work with Network 18 epitomizes how SeaChange technology can seamlessly evolve alongside a broadcaster's ever-changing requirements," said Chris West, vice president of worldwide broadcast sales, SeaChange International. "Network 18's existing SeaChange system has been performing flawlessly for years while also serving as a foundation for the operation to easily expand as its needs warrant."
