Samsung released a firmware upgrade on Feb. 5 for its Blu-ray Disc player (BD-P1200). The firmware update is known as Version 2.1.
It can be updated via the Blu-ray player’s internal Ethernet port, or by downloading a CD image from the Samsung Web site. According to the firmware posting on Blu-ray.com, the upgrade will correct some problems that the player has experienced with several major motion picture titles, most notably:
- “Mr. and Mrs. Smith”
- “Live Free or Die Hard”
- “Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1”
- “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”
Other Blu-ray titles have also been reported as having compatibility problems, as well. The free Samsung firmware update is available here.
