Running countdown reminds broadcasters of analog transmission shutoff

Need a reminder of how long you have till you’re required by law to cease analog television transmission?

Just log on to the Association for Maximum Service Television’s Web site to find a running digital clock counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds till switchoff.
As of this writing, the switch-off will occur 837 days, 14 hours, 31 minutes and 10 seconds. The clock serves as a reminder that the industry is in the last phase of the transition for digital transmission.

The FCC released its Seventh Further Notice of Proposed Rule Making Oct. 20 with a proposed new DTV Table of Allotments and technical rules regarding a variety of rules covering effective radiated power (ERP), antenna height above average terrain (antenna HAAT), antenna radiation pattern and geographic coordinates at which stations would be allowed to operate. Like the MSTV clock, the notice is a reminder to broadcasters that analog TV transmission will soon be relegated to the history books.
