Pioneer Electronics revealed what it called the “world’s first multiple drive professional DVD recorder.” The PRV-LX1 offers real-time video recording capabilities and the ability to customize DVD menus and chapter points—a first for a standalone video recorder, the company said. The base unit comes with a standard DVD-R.RW recordable drive and 120 GB internal hard disk drive.
An optional second DVD-R/RW drive can be installed in the unit, allowing simultaneous recording to two DVD discs. Video I/O includes component video, composite, S-video and DV (IEEE-1394). Audio I/O features two-channel balanced (XLR), two-channel unbalanced (RCA) and coaxial digital audio output for playback through an external Dolby Digital decoder. The PRV-LX1 will ship in June.
