Pinnacle supplies graphics gear to Al Jazeera channel

Deko 1000s are built on the same core technology as the FXDeko II and therefore integrate fully.

Pinnacle Systems has announced that Al-Jazeera, the Qatar-based broadcaster, has ordered an array of networked graphics systems to support its new documentary channel due for launch in early next year.

The new order consists of four Deko 1000 character generators; one Thunder XL clip server; and one FXDeko II character generator—integrated with DekoObjex, an option which allows broadcasters to deliver multiple simultaneous information graphics to air using a single character generator. Also included is a ClipDeko, an integrated video clip player/recorder. The installation compliments the existing DekoCast, FXDeko II, and Deko2200s that are already in use at Al-Jazeera.

Pinnacle Systems’ flagship character generator, the FXDeko II, delivers multichannel effects capability in an on-air graphics creation and play out workstation. Users can independently move text, graphics and textures through 3D space in real-time. Deko 1000s are built on the same core technology as the FXDeko II and therefore integrate fully. The whole installation is backed by a Thunder XL, Pinnacle Systems’ next generation integrated clip and still server platform, which combines the capabilities of a still store, clip store, mixer and DVE in a powerful application environment.
