Peter Gabriel Among New Owners of SSL
By TVTechnology published
British rocker Peter Gabriel and broadcast entrepreneur David Engelke are acquiring the assets of Solid State Logic.
SSL will continue to design and manufacture mixing consoles and related audio technology at its Oxford headquarters.
As co-founder of Syco Systems--developer of the "Tablet," a digital audio workstation--Gabriel has blended his knowledge of music with technology. Recently, he has been successful with OD2 (On Demand Distribution) a European online music distributor.
Emmy winner Engelke has been involved with Pinnacle Systems, Montage Group and Digital Editing Services and is a former SSL console owner. He currently heads up Broadcast Devices, a supplier of electronics for the broadcast industry. The management team will include Antony David, SSL sales director of the 80's and 90's, Piers Plaskitt, former president of SSL and Chris Smith as group finance director.
