Pesa to intro XD photonic switcher at IBC

PESA Switching Systems will launch its photonic routing switcher, integrated with a PESA routing control system, at IBC2004.

PESA's XD switcher will be on display at IBC2004 in Amsterdam this September.

The XD switcher can switch any signal format, including video signals of any definition, and deliver transparent connections between any of its input fibers and output fibers without converting light to electrical signals. The new fiber-optic routing switcher solution has been developed in partnership with Glimmerglass Networks.

Also new at IBC will be PESA’s Premiere, a small, expandable routing switcher available in 8x4, 12x8, 16x8 and 16x16 matrix sizes. Premiere is targeted for multimedia applications in corporate, government, sports, entertainment and similar facilities.

The switcher can handle a variety of signal types including composite, Y/C, RGB, RGBHV and stereo audio. (Future releases will include SDI, HD SDI and AES/EBU.) Included in Premiere are RS-232, USB, Ethernet and PESA PRC connectivity, along with PESA Windows set up software and a local control panel. In addition, the system is networked with auto-sensing configuration and can be controlled remotely on an IP network from anywhere in the world.

The company will show also its Cat Paws — small-footprint video transmitter and receiver modules — that allow distribution of high-resolution computer video signals over CAT-5/UTP twisted pair cables. Each module comes with an RJ-45 connector and an HD-15 connector for RGBHV sources and allows SXGA-resolution (1280x1024) signals to be sent over CAT-5 cable as far as 450 feet.
