Pappas Telecasting selects Ai Quantum transmitters for TV stations

Ai's Quantum transmitters use water-cooling and collector depression, and provide a high level of energy efficiency.

Pappas Telecasting has selected Ai’s depressed collector Quantum transmitters for digital and analog applications at several of its TV stations.

The transmitters, using e2v ESCIOT water-cooled tubes, will be installed at WSWS-TV in Columbus, GA, and WMMF-TV in Green Bay-Appleton, WI. Both full-power stations will transmit 5MW/s effective radiated power. Pappas Telecasting will also purchase a 30kW Quantum digital transmitter for WMMF.

The transmitters use water-cooling and collector depression, and provide a high level of energy efficiency. Pappas’ expects its power usage to be reduced by 25 percent compared with conventional IOT transmitters.

The Quantum transmitters will be installed by the end of the year.
