Optibase has released the MGW 2400, its new encoding and Microsoft Windows Media compatible streaming server. The streaming platform enables Internet service providers (ISPs) to offer broadband services, such as video-on-demand and replay TV services over digital subscriber lines (DSL) and cable modems to the residential market.
A high density, multi-channel video encoding and streaming server, MGW 2400 is designed to compress and stream – either in multicast or on-demand unicast mode – up to six live high quality Windows Media compliant streams.
ISPs can deploy MGW 2400 to encode and stream entertainment channels directly to their customer’s home PCs. End users don't have to download or install a special player application to view streaming video on their desktop.
The MGW 2400 also enables large companies and organizations to deliver streaming video to desktop PCs equipped with a Windows Media Player for TV over LAN applications such as corporate communications, distance learning and business TV.

It can control up to four servers, simultaneously upload the live encoded streams to the servers for time shifted or on-demand distribution.

- Reduced end-to-end latency compared to software-based solutions
- SNMP management support, including monitoring and alarming, allowing service providers to easily integrate the system into their networking environment
