Optibase introduces MXF technology for encoding platform

p>Optibase, a provider of digital video encoding and streaming solutions, announced that it would implement MXF (Material eXchange Format) on the MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher, the company’s MPEG-2 encoding platform.

The Material eXchange Format is now a new feature included in Optibase's MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher.

Optibase and LSI Logic also announced the implementation of Sony MPEG IMX Technology on the same encoding platform.

With these additions, the MPEG MovieMaker 200S Publisher with the MPEG Composer 200 becomes a key component of ingest systems for TV production, enabling the capture of high-quality video files for later retrieval and editing.

MXF is a file wrapper for video, audio and metadata and as such is an interchange format — a single currency for transactions over networks between servers, tape streamers and digital archives. MXF is ideal for professional video and broadcast companies that have been using proprietary file formats for years.

The implementation of Sony MPEG IMX Technology into Optibase’s encoding platform is a result of a close collaboration between Optibase and LSI Logic, a leader in multimedia processing for the digital home.
