Omnibus Automates Time Warner Cable's Syracuse News Operation
Time Warner Cable's 24-hour local news channel, News 10 Now in Syracuse, N.Y., was recently launched on an OmniBus automation system.
The system serves as the central interface for controlling devices, obtaining feedback and relaying playout messages, and is integrated with a Pinnacle Systems Vortex video server, AP's ENPS newsroom production system and VertigoXmedia graphics automation to enable broadcasting of local news.
Time Warner Cable has established six 24-hour local news outlets over the last 22 months, implementing the same OmniBus system at each site: Raleigh, Charlotte, Albany, Houston, San Antonio and Syracuse. In the Syracuse facility, an ENPS terminal uses a dedicated WAN to deploy OmniBus applications at five remote bureaus: Rome, Oswego, Ithaca, Watertown and Potsdam.
