NYN Taps Sony XDCAM for HD System

New York Network, the broadcast center in Albany, N.Y., owned by the State University of New York, will incorporate Sony’s XDCAM HD system in NYN’s next phase of digitizing its overall production facilities.

NYN, which serves as a resource for other educational institutions, state government agencies and nongovernment clients, initially completed the initial phase of its redesign four years ago with construction of an HD facility. The facility includes three studios (each with its own control room), a master control, a couple of nonlinear editing suites, satellite uplink facilities, and field production capabilities.

NYN officials said the XDCAM technology was chosen to address the diverse range of programming and services required by its clients—which includes live interactive videoconference calls and recorded HD broadcasts.
